Name: Maribyrnong River Quarry
Directions: Maribyrnong River near Avondale
Heights (on the St Albans side). It can be accessed from both sides of the
river. You can drive to the top on the St Albans side and cross the river at a
ford off the bicycle track on the Avondale side.
Trails: There
is a great deal of variety in biking here, single track, drop offs, a few jumps
(not very good though), downhills and some very steep stuff. The place sprawls along
the Maribyrnong for kilometers so you can spend a few hours riding around here,
you certainly won't get bored here too quickly.

Name: Road Eleven (Bicentennial National Trail)
Directions:
Yarra Ranges National Park, Toolangi, appx 70 km N/E of Melbourne.
Trails: We're talking jumping some serious trees, large rocks and branches. Not too many corners at the start, but further down, very windy and fast at the same time. One section up hill on this track, very short, only about 400 meters.
Length:
Melways:
Directions:
Toolangi State Forest, appx 60 km N/E of Melbourne
Trails: This track has the hugest jumps of all time. These jumps are actually big fat gutters, which have been well rounded on both entry and exit. Motor bikes a bit of a problem in this area.
Length:
Melways:
Directions:
Healesville, appx 55 km N/E of Melbourne
Trails: I recommend travelling to Toolangi then gain entry to Lowes Road through the Institute for Horticultural Development (Spud Farm) by turning right when the Polyhouses appear on the right, then via Spud Track. Large rocks in the road are a problem at the top end of the road. Traffic hazard from the half way point onwards.

Melways:
Directions:
Toolangi, appx 60 km N/E of Melbourne
Trails: Very straight all the way through. This has to be the steepest track that I've ever had the displeasure of riding on. On numerous occasions, I have had both wheels locked, and I'm sure we all know how difficult it is to keep control of a bike when the front wheel is locked. Really tough short track.
Length:
Melways:
Directions:
Toolangi, app. 60 km N/E of Melbourne
Trails: The track is in good condition and is very fast in sections. One bitchin 180 corner right at the end.

Melways:
Directions:
Yarra Ranges National Park, Toolangi, app. 70 km N/E of Melbourne
Trails: Big ride up the, however, the ride back down is spectacular, and far outweighs the cost of the journey up the hill. For the game ones, you can even tackle Mt. St Leonard. You can't take cars up there. Watch out for logging traffic (log trucks, heavy machinery) when you're speeding down the hill, but otherwise the road is well maintained because of this reason.

Melways:
Directions:
Old Chum Creek Road- Chum Creek, app. 60 km N/E of Melbourne
Trails: Easy ride this one. Just up the bitumen road, then down the track at the Red Dirt Corner. Lots of mud in winter, but hey, that's half the fun. Huge puddles down the bottom.
Length:
Melways:
Directions:
Just to the West of Town, you can pick up the trial in the Whipstick
National Forest. Or, stop into the Bendigo Info Centre in the middle of town
and pick up a map.
Trails: Well maintained trail, some rocky areas, lots of climbs and descents on the East end of town near One Tree Hill (Latrobe Uni)

Trails: lots of runoff chanels, jump area in the middle.

Melways:
Directions: Blackwood, head up the Ballarat Rd, and turn off towards the Blackwood Ranges
Take the O'Briens crossing rd, about 6 ks from
blackwood. There is any amount of tracks off this road. Nearly all of the tracks
on the right side of the road are dead ends. Alot of the trails are shut during
the winter months (no 4wd's to do battle with, bonus). Most of the tracks in this
area link up.
Trails:
Fire brake one. 15km coming from the gisborne end, some good fairly smooth down hill stretchs(it gets graded every
couple of years) down to a creek. then up a steepish pinch onto Ratcliff track TR
6km mostly flatish then onto blue gum track TR 6 or 7kmTL onto Bluegum/O'Brien
link track 45km folow this to the right a couple of down hill stretches. There
is a few deep wallows on this track but other wise it's not to bad. this track
takes you to O'Brien road, where hopefully a ute is waiting for you.
XL track is closer to Blackwood from Fire break 1 and crosses 2 other
roads. Good down hill sections, some are a bit rocky, a creek crossing. You can take
the creek full noise, no rocks in this one.
Some other good trails in this area are Possum Track, Corner Track. And if you've
got big nackers Watties track. Very steep and rocky coming from both ends.

Go to the Middlands golf course in Ballarat. Ask someone or follow the
signs. Go up past the golf course, past the roundabout and on your right beside
the dead peoples home you will see fire track, follow that and if you ant take the
tracks that go down the hill to the road there not that easy but if not keep
going along the fire track right till the end and go right ther could be water
there u should be right just check if unsure, but the trail the best one is
straight in front and its is fast and fun but other then that just ride around
to go to far back and some motorbike riders show up but want be near u to much
so have fun. (Will Update)
Trails:

farly good and have good jumps. (Will Update)

Directions:
From Melbourne, take the Monash Freeway, exit @ Wellington Rd, follow
straight to the end, turn right and "T" intersection, and head
towards Emerald. You will see Clematis pub in front of you, save that for
later. Cross the Puffing Billy train tracks, go through the first round about,
then turn right at the second round about. Follow the road around to the right,
and turn left down a dirt road just BEFORE the puffing bill tracks. Follow to
the end. (Nobelius train station) You could catch the train to Belgrave
station, then catch puffing billy or the Gembrooke bus from there. (Will
Update)
Trails: take your bike to the Nobelius station plattform. Get a huge run up heading towards the forest, take a 90 degree turn about 20 feet after the platform finishes, take the largerst of the 2 drops on the right, head straight down the hill and vere left, follow the track. At the end, take a left, go accross the gully, take the second track on the right after the dip, and go down fast. All tracks take you to the lake. Once you go through the only gate at the car park.....the track you are on goes around Emerald lake. If you follow that and up to your right, there is a nice 10-15 foot jump, but if you look down the hill to your left, you will come accross several single track, downhill sections, pretty short, but excellent for practise. There are drops, fast lines, fast corners, roots etc. If you ask the rangers, they can give you a map of the cross country course (National titles being held here). For those alert riders, there are secret jumps in the forest below emerald lake road. (Will Update)

Name: Olinda to Silvan Reservoir
Directions:
Start at the Olinda Golf course carpark (melways 122 A 8) off
Olinda-Monbulk Road. Ride along this road until the first road on your left.
Follow this about 50 metres and you will see a gate on your left at the end of
the golf course. This is the start, I think it is called Rock Track. At the end
of this semi technical trail, turn right and follow the fire roads all the way
to silvan reservoir.
Trails: Starts off a semi-technical decent single track, followed by well made fire roads. This trail is high speed. Make sure you leave a car at Silvan reservoir, or be prepared for a long ride back. Overall it is a good, quick downhill. Some good views, and a little interesting with the single track.
